Lunchtime Supervisors receive training, resources and equipment that enables them to deliver safe, fun, active and meaningful sessions. Schools also receive funding to employ additional supervisors.
The programme links nicely with the partnership Playground Leaders scheme, where Year 5/6 pupils are trained to deliver playground games.
In schools where the programme was monitored last year, there was a reported 81% improvement in behaviour amongst groups of targeted pupils and a 76% improvement in concentration during the lessons following the 'Active' lunchtimes.
For more information about 'Active Playgrounds' please contact Vinny Halsall, School Sport Coordinator at Warriner School.
