Activator Takeover

North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership has linked up with Cherwell District Council's Recreation & Sport Activators to offer the ‘Activator Takeover’.

This exciting programme will see the Activators, Lydia Fox and Tim Craven, going into local Primary Schools during lunch breaks and 'taking over'. Lydia and Tim will run informal sessions with selected young people to keep them active, build confidence & self esteem and try to engage them in new sports and activities.

The Activators will work with Schools for short blocks, linked to and promoting the evening sessions that happen in local parks and recreation spaces across Cherwell District.

The sessions will include a selection of non-traditional activities such as dodgeball, rocket-ball and ultimate frisbee as well as more common sports like tennis and Uni Hoc.

Lydia and Tim said of the programme "The Activators are all about engaging children in new exciting ways and we want the takeovers to allow us to engage some of the children who normally wouldn’t come out and play after school. By going into schools during lunch times we hope we can enthuse these children and maybe persuade them not to go home and watch television or play on their computer games, but to come out and join in the activator sessions".
