Ambassadors Traning Day at BGN

As you will be aware, the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are being held in London in less than 180 days.

As Platinum and Gold Ambassadors for North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership, four Blessed George Napier students and myself were given the opportunity to attend a regional Young Ambassadors Conference at Coventry Ricoh Arena.

We learnt a lot about the Games, and our roles as Olympic Gold and Platinum Ambassadors. We got to meet a number of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and also took part in several exciting and inspiring activities linked to the Games.

Following the Conference we organised and ran a Young Ambassadors Conference of our own. The conference was attended by a select group of School Ambassadors from our partner secondary schools - Blessed George Napier, Banbury, North Oxfordshire Academy, Cooper, Bicester Community College and Gosford Hill.

The main aim of our conference was to equip the School Ambassadors with the knowledge and skills they require to raise awareness in their own schools of the Olympic and Paralympic Values, and to inspire more young people to take part in more physical activity leading up to and following the Games. It was a fun, challenging and ‘loud’ afternoon!!

A key message of the day was that anyone can be a part of the build-up to London 2012.
