Group 3 Year 1 Dance

The annual Year 1 Dance Festival for the North Oxfordshire Academy Primary Schools was run by Sarah Hastings, Dance Co-ordinator of the North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership. 28 leaders from North Oxfordshire Academy were excellently trained by Sarah for a new theme ‘Matilda and Friends’ by Roald Dahl. The leaders ran their own practice sessions after the training by Sarah to ensure that the year 1 students had a memorable experience.

The theme and dance was choreographed by Sarah Hastings and was pitched perfectly for the age range of the students. 145 primary students from Hill View, Hanwell, Cropredy and William Morris packed out the NOA sports hall for two hours of dance. The event consisted of the leaders teaching two sections of dance to small groups while Sarah delivered the other section to the whole group. At the end there was a large performance for all the staff that attended.

The students thorougly enjoyed the day and many smiling faces filled the sportshall. ‘What a wonderful dance Sarah created, this has been such a lovely way to end the term’ Cropredy. ‘The leaders have been so helpful and enthuastic. Our students are really enjoying themselves’ William Morris.
