NOSSP Leaders Qualify as Rounders Umpires

25 Year 9 & 10 Leaders from Blessed George Napier, Banbury, North Oxfordshire Academy and Warriner were selected by their teachers to attend the Rounders England ‘Preliminary Umpire Award’, delivered by tutor Anna Maguire at Blessed George Napier Catholic School.

The 3 hour course, which gave the leaders theory based activities as well as practical opportunities to umpire, culminated in a 15 minute test. The course developed the girls understanding of the game and provided them with an insight of the skills and knowledge needed to be an umpire.

All the girls passed the course and are now qualified to umpire Level 1, 2 & 3 Schools Games Competitions, and there may be opportunities in the future for them to support Rounders England competitions. They will also get the opportunity to attend a countywide volunteer event before representing North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership as umpires at the Oxfordshire School Games Final in July.
