Cooper Family Year 5/6 Kwik Cricket Festival

The annual Kwik Cricket Festival for The Cooper Family of Primary Schools took place on 18 May 2012. This event was organised by The Cooper School and was played at Bicester and North Oxford Cricket Club. More than one hundred and fifty Year 5 and 6 children participated in the festival, which provided the perfect opportunity for young people to put their cricket skills to the test in a competitive but fun environment.

Twenty one Year 9 students from The Cooper School, who had taken part in a cricket leader training session to help prepare them for the event, took responsibility for umpiring the matches. They also ran warm up activities for the younger children.

Teams from Longfields, Langford Village, Glory Farm, Charlton-on-Otmoor and Launton Primary Schools played in the Festival. There were eight girls’ teams and eight boys’ teams, with each event being played in two pools, followed by play-off matches. Congratulations to Longfields and Glory Farm Schools on winning the boys’ and girls’ competitions respectively. Charlton-on-Otmoor School was the runner up in both competitions.

Members of the winning teams were presented with certificates and a team trophy. These teams and the runners up have qualified for the North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership Finals which will take place in June.

"An excellent event as usual. Well done to all". (PLT Langford Village)

"A great day. Thank you". (Teacher Glory Farm
