Change4Life Festivals

Over fifty children from five Schools took part across two Change4Life festivals this term.    St. John’s, Dr. Radcliffe’s and Christopher Rawlings attended on Thursday 25th November at Banbury Academy and Brookside and Longfields participated on Friday 27th November at Bicester Leisure Centre.

Following a whole group warm up of bean bag tag, teams rotated around three activities including archery, boccia and combat tag games.  In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere all children and accompanying adults really enjoyed the challenge each activity bought.

During the festival, the Spirit of the Games value ‘Self Belief’ was a key focus area.  Two members from each team were presented with a special certificate to recognise their positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the festival.

All children left both festivals buzzing with excitement and it is hoped they will transfer their new found self-belief into their own change4life clubs and work back at their own Primary Schools.

We look forward to similar fun at our next Change4Life festivals scheduled for March.

Comments from children and adults

“Epic! Children were not confident at the beginning of the session but all felt they could now face challenges after trying all the activities.”  Teaching assistant (Christopher Rawlings)

“We like the Archery as it was different and a new sport.  We also liked the Boccia because you had to really think about how to move your arms.  We also learnt teamwork because we had to work together and to try our best even if it was challenging.” (Children taking part from St. John’s)

“The archery was the best, we loved it.” (Children from Dr Radcliffe’s)

“It was really fun.”

“We enjoyed archery!” (Children from Longfield’s)

“The children came back to School full of confidence and seemed to really enjoy the festival” Teacher (Longfields)

“I was really happy.”

“We liked all the activities.”(Children from Brookside)

We used all our learning powers, ‘have a go, don’t give up, curious, keep on improving’.  Thank you as always.”     Brookside (Teacher)
