A Dance Extravaganza at Banbury Academy

Banbury Academy’s cluster of primary schools came together on Thursday 3rd December for a dance extravaganza. The 160 Year 4 students from Queensway, The Grange, St. Mary’s, Harriers and Dashwood learnt and performed dances in groups of 10-15 which had been choreographed by 26 Year 8 students as part of their core PE programme.   The young leaders used their leadership skills to engage the children in some fun warm up activities before teaching them their dances to ‘pop’ songs Salute, Blackmagic, Love Me Like You and The Heartbeat Song.  

Following an inspirational performance from Ella in Year 8, it was the children's turn to take to the stage and they did so with energy, passion and style! Well done to all of the children who did a fantastic job of learning the dances, remembering them and performing them in front of the large audience!

 A big thank you to all the young leaders who worked very hard before and during the festival.  They really inspired the children and created dances that were well-pitched and fun to perform.
