TOP Gymnastics for Teachers

On what proved to be an intense but fun and informative day Primary colleagues from across the partnership spend Monday developing their knowledge, skills, understanding and delivery of curriculum gymnastics.

The TOPs Gymnastics workshop delivered in partnership with Youth Sport Trust was designed to enable children to develop personal, learning and thinking skills through five gymnastics themes: BALANCE – LANDINGS, JUMPS, LEAPS AND TURMS – ROLLING – SHAPE – TRAVEL.

Delegates used a range of new downloadable resources, including PDF cards and video demonstrations to help identify key teaching points for skills.  All of the resources are now accessible to teachers from all participating schools.

One teacher said after the workshop ‘This has been one of the best courses I’ve ever been on.  I now feel much more confident about how to teach gymnastics and in particular how to make it more challenging, engaging and fun!
