Cooper Family G&T Sportshall Athletics 2016

The annual Cooper Family Sportshall Athletics Festival took place at Cooper School on February 3rd. More than ninety children representing teams from Glory Farm, Langford Village, Launton and Fringford Primary Schools took part in the competition. The events proved very popular with the young athletes; they almost raised the roof of the Sports Hall with their enthusiastic cheering and support!

The Festival was run by a group of capable and efficient CooperSchool students and was aimed at Gifted and Talented children in Years 5 and 6.

During the event, the Spirit of the Games value of passion was a key focus area. A girl and boy from each team was selected and presented with a special certificate in recognition of their positive attitude and perseverance throughout the festival.

After a series of hotly contested track and field events, the competition was won by Langford Village School. This team has qualified for the forthcoming North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership Final.

Steve Flynn from Bicester Athletic Club was on hand to support the leaders and young athletes and to raise awareness of further participation opportunities at our local Club. A second Cooper Family Sportshall Athletics Festival, this time for less confident and less active children, will take place later in February, thus providing opportunities for sport for all.

"A brilliant event!". (P.E. Coordinator, Fringford)

"The children thoroughly enjoyed the evening, thank you". (Teaching Assistant, Launton)
