Banbury Family Inclusion SHA

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Dashwood, Queensway and The Grange enjoyed a morning of running, jumping and throwing as they took part in an inclusion Sportshall Athletics event at Banbury Academy on Thursday 4th February.

The children rotated around a circuit of seven activities including continuous obstacle relay, standing long jump and javelin.  With an emphasis on inclusion, the children had a go at every activity and were given lots of encouragement and advice by the Year 11 Young Leaders who delivered the festival.  There were lots of certificates handed out at the end to the winning teams and individuals at each activity and also to children who had shown lots of determination throughout the morning.

The 15 Young Leaders were GCSE PE students who organised and ran the festival as part of their leadership assessment.  They did a fantastic job, the accompanying staff commented that they “were supportive and encouraging with all the pupils” and that their “feedback was sensitive and constructive.”
