NOSSP Wins Regional School Games Award!

On the eve of half term we received notification from Sport England and Youth Sport Trust that we had won the London and Home Counties School Games Award for ‘Competition for All’ in recognition of our ‘commitment to the development of competitive opportunities for all young people’.

The award follows the announcement in January that North Oxfordshire was ranked in the top 10% of School Games areas across the country for our commitment to, and development of, competition and the School Games during the autumn term 2015.

The accolade is a fitting reward for the tremendous dedication and hard work of our School Games Organiser, Emma Jackson, and team of School Sport Coordinators - Gaynor Allen, Rory Mawn, Kevin Peake, Lucie Smith-Childs, Richard Ferley and Ian Lee.

Our comprehensive and wide ranging calendar of inter-school competitions and festivals offers regular opportunities for young people to access high quality competitive experiences, in a reassuring and friendly atmosphere that supports the learning of participants and young leaders.

During the Autumn term, we delivered 83 competitions and festivals linked to 10 community sports clubs and organisations. The events involved 4749 participants in 600 teams, supported by 630 young leaders. Our inclusive approach to competition enabled 242 participants and 24 leaders with special educational needs or a disability to experience a competition or festival.
