Celebration of Dance 2016

Last Friday evening, over 130 children from Edward Feild, North Kidlington, Bure Park, Glory Farm, Southwold and Sibford treated their audience to something rather special!

The performance hall at The Cooper School was filled with music and movement showcasing the fantastically diverse dancing talents of children in these schools.

The Flaming Dancers from Edward Feild began the evening with an energetic, well-choreographed and amazingly performed street dance mix.

Bure Park Dance Troupe were pitch and move perfect with their medley with excellent musicality and formations.

After getting through the auditions at school, 40 children from Southwold  performed in group routines, choreographed by the children themselves, with huge smiles and plenty of sass!

Sibford Dance Troupe, with children from FS to Y4, took us back to the 60s with a routine from ‘Hairspray’ dancing and looking amazing with fantastic costumes and pomp poms!

Bure Park then treated us to some Bhangra dancing from the girls and then boys group. The hand movements were so authentic and precise, high energy bounces, just brilliant to watch!

North Kidlington showcased a dance from their KS2 play, a great narrative routine full of humour and elegant dancing with beautiful lines and well finished moves. They also entertained us with a dynamic freestyle dance duo (so flexible and those amazing leaps!) and an contemporary dance solo, packed with elegance and emotion.

The Glory Farm Strictly Team dazzled us with their Cha Cha, sparkly costumes, great posture and precise footwork and the biggest smiles!

Then Sam from Edward Feild, inspired by all the talent he’d seen, asked to dance too. Billy Elliot eat your heart out! Sam brought the house down with his free style routine, such strength and poise!

Passion was the School Games value of the evening and these talented children showed their passion for dance in abundance. Well done to everyone and keeeeeep dancing!
