International celebrations of sport

Just before the half term holiday, all pupils at St Joseph's School took part in a full week of activities celebrating different cultures and countries. As part of the week we held a full day of various sporting activities to celebrate different continents.

This was an excellent opportunity for pupils to work together in vertical groups where they acted as leaders and group members to overcome a variety of sporting challenges.

Sports including; long distance running, fencing and seated volleyball all had excited participants mixing and working together while they took part in co-operative and competitive situations.

All pupils worked extremely hard and made new friends with pupils they had previously had limited contact with.

The day and week was a real success with pupils gaining valuable appreciation of each other’s differing cultures and perspectives.
