Competitive fun at BGN Year 2 Multi-skills

One hundred and ninety-six Year 2 children participated in the BGN Family multi-skills festivals held at Blessed George Napier Catholic School on Thursday 24th November 2016.  Teams competed in various relay races including bean bag, rugby, scoop, obstacle, hurdles and baton relays.  The morning festival involved eleven teams from Cropredy, St. John’s and St. Joseph’s Primary Schools and the afternoon festival involved ten teams from Orchard fields and Bishop Loveday Primary Schools.

Competition was fierce across all races with lots of passion and determination on display.  Enjoyment amongst participants and adults was also evident with enthusiastic cheering and support almost raising the roof of the sportshall.

The first festival saw Cropredy A edged out St. John’s A by a single point to win heat 1.  Cropredy B won heat 2, winning 4 out of their 6 races.  Heat 3 was extremely close with just 2 points separating all three teams.  St. Joseph’s C came out on top with 13 points, closely followed by St. John’s E 12 points and Cropredy C 11 points.

In the second festival Bishop Loveday A dominated heat 1 winning 5 out of 6 races to win.  Bishop Loveday C won heat 2 and Orchard fields D finished with a 100% record by winning all of their races to come first in heat 3

During the festival, the Spirit of the Games value ‘Passion’ was a key focus area.  One member from each team was was presented with a special certificate to recognise their positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the festival.
