Warriner Family Get IN2 Hockey

Primary Pupils from The Warriner Family travelled to Bloxham Independent School for our secon IN2 Hockey festival. 176 pupils from eight primary schools took part in the festival run in conjunction with Banbury Hockey Club.

Prior to the event primary schools had received coaching sessions from Banbury Hockey Club to ready themselves for the festival and raise awareness of the game of Hockey. The School Games value attached to the Hockey Festival was Respect. This was demonstrated by pupils, leaders and coaches, through fair play and sportsmanship, making the festival a wonderful spectacle.

With 13 teams entered and raring to go the goals flowed and an early pace was set by Deddington, Sbiford Ferris, Bloxham and Shennington. All of whom progressed onto the semi-final stages. Deddington emerged victorious on the day and will represent The Warriner Family at the North Oxfordshire Finals, but having one hundred and seventy pupils having a wonderful time playing Hockey for four hours. The game of Hockey is the real winner.

As the festival came to a close pupils were urged to continue playing hockey at Banbury Hockey Club. Session for Year 5 pupils are Sunday morning and Year 6 pupils on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings for girls and boys.

I would like to thank Banbury Hockey Club and Bloxham School for all their help and involvement in the organising and running the festival and I’m already looking forward to next year’s event.
