#TeamNorth Shine at Oxfordshire School Games

We’re super proud of all the individuals, teams and schools that have represented #TeamNorth at the Oxfordshire School Games Spring Finals over the past week, including the fantastic young leaders from The Cooper School, North Oxfordshire Academy and Blessed George Napier School who between them umpired the Hockey and Netball, and delivered the Sports hall Athletics.

Deddington Primary School ensured that the Hockey Trophy stayed with #TeamNorth for the 3rd year in a row. Undefeated all competition, the final match went to a tense 10 minutes of penalty shuffles, but superb goal keeping saw Deddington clinch GOLD.

Gosford Hill Year 7 Girls were a force to be reckoned with, picking up SILVER medals in the Hockey, Netball AND Football, while the Year 9 Girls are Oxfordshire School Games Netball Champions! The Bicester School Girls just missed out on the Netball medals, with both the Year 8’s and Year 10’s finishing 4th on goal difference.

Over in the pool there were BRONZE medals for the Sibford School Girls and The Cooper School Boys in the U16 competitions. Bloxham Primary also picked up a fantastic BRONZE at the U11 High 5 Netball Final, with Edward Feild finishing in 5th.

The Y3/4 Football team for Bishop Loveday took away BRONZE medals from the Large School Final, and Shennington Primary School were just outside the medals in 4th at the Small Schools Football Final.

There were medals all around for #TeamNorth in the Secondary Sportshall Athletics. GOLD for Blessed George Napier Year 7 and Year 8 Boys, SILVER for Warriner Year 7 Girls and BRONZE for Warriner Year 8 Girls!

The Cross Country route was a challenging one, and the cooler morning for the Primary Schools gave way to a warm and sticky afternoon for the Secondary runners. However, #TeamNorth still picked up medals in EVERY race!

Tom from Sibford School picked up a BRONZE in the Year 3/4 Boys race, Langford Village Girls took home SILVER in the same age group with Isabel claiming an individual SILVER too. In the Year 5/6 races St Thomas More’s Lucy ran her way to BRONZE and the girls form Bure Park dominated the front end of the finishers to claim a team GOLD. The bus back to Bicester must have been noisy on the way home as Langford Village took home more medals form the Year 5/6 boys with a BRONZE for Ollie and team GOLD, Dillon from Bloxham ran a brilliant race to take individual GOLD and the Bure Park boys took home a BRONZE medal each.

The Blessed George Napier Boys were on form, picking up team GOLD in both the Year 7 and Year 8/9 Races, with the Year 12/13’s taking SILVER and the Y12/13 Girls claiming GOLD.  There were further individual medals for The Bicester Schools’ Millie – Year 8/9 GOLD and Georgia – Year 7 SILVER, and Ben from The Cooper School won GOLD by at least 200m in the Y10/11 Boys race. Runners from The Warriner School also had a successful afternoon with a SILVER for their Year 7 Girls and Year 10/11 Boys, and BRONZE for the Year 10/11 Girls including an individual BRONZE for Anna.

Well done to every member of #TeamNorth! Qualifying for the Oxfordshire School Games finals is a fantastic achievement – we’re looking forward to seeing more teams’ progress through to the Summer Finals!
