Easter Table Tennis Tournament a Success!

Friday 7th April saw the second graded tournament hosted at the BGN academy. The tournament once again acted as a brilliant supplement to the excellent work undertaken across the Banbury’shire area in raising the profile and the uptake in people playing the sport.

The tournament saw some 45 entries with juniors aged between 9 – 15 participating with players representing Bodicote TT club, BGN, Chenderit, Bishop Carpenter School, Warriner, Christopher Rawlins, Bishop Loveday & Mollington TT club.

Players competed across 4 categories from Beginner, Improver, Intermediate & League players with some players having had just a few weeks experience before entering.

Once again, another brilliant spectacle unfolded with players showcasing all they have learnt across their coaching sessions along with lots of great sportsmanship on show and all played out in front of a brilliant crowd of parents and supporters.

A number of close games unfolded during the early group stages before players went on to compete in knockout matches dependant on their position in the group stages. This theme continued as we approached the latter stage of the competition with players showing great improvement from the first tournament played some 6 weeks before with a number of new players reaching the final stages of the completion before the trophies we’re decided.

The final results of each section we’re as follows;

League Competition

Intermediate

Further tournaments will be planned for the 2017/18 season and as we now approach the Summer break, we would like to congratulate all the players and coaches for their continued hard work and look forward to seeing you all again in the new season. Please keep in touch with your local coaches to ensure you are kept up to date with all available coaching sessions and tell your friends and family what a great time you’re having playing the sport as everyone is welcome to get involved.
