Banbury Academy Football Festival 2017

All the primary schools in the Banbury Academy Cluster took part in a Football Festival on Thursday 12th October.  The Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed playing some fun warm-up games and then practising their skills in sessions which were planned and run by a team of 28 Young Sports Leaders from Banbury Academy.

Following the skills and drills sessions the children took part in 5 a-side tournaments which were differentiated according to ability.  Each school had been invited to bring up to 3 teams, in total there were 19 teams.  It was a very busy morning with 41 matches being played in total!  The winners of the Shield Competition were Queensway, followed by Hillview.  Harriers came 1st in the Plate Competition with Hillview coming 2nd.  The winners of the Cup Competition were Hanwell Fields, followed by St. Leonard’s.  Well done to all the winning teams and good luck to Hanwell Fields and St. Leonard’s who have qualified for the partnership finals. Teamwork was the focus School Games Value and some of the children were selected to receive special teamwork certificates at the end of the morning.  Well done to all these children!
