At the end of February, The Cooper School invited primary schools to the Year 5 & 6 Focus Sportshall Athletics Festival. Glory Farm, Finmere, Fringford and Launton Primary School arrived with a total of 23 children. The children were warmed up by the Sports Leaders in preparation for the event. This was followed by a practise session for each group. The children spent time trying out the event before going for a timed or measured score..
The stations that were set up tested throwing, jumping and running skills:
The Standing Long Jump winners were from Fringford – Abi and Seph.
The chest push was won by Glory Farm’s – Meadow and Launton’s Tristian.
The vertical jump was won by Tina from Launton and Jake from Fringford.
The Balance Beam was won by Tina from Launton and Oscar from Finmere.
The obstacle relay was won by Fringford.
The target throw was won by Fringford
The sprint relay was won by Fringford
The Speed Bounce was also won by Fringford.
The school games value was teamwork and each teacher representative nominated 2 children for their participation during the morning.
The Cooper School Sport Leaders again did a fantastic job of setting up and running all the stations, encouraging, counting, retrieving bean bags and balls to the participants.
Again Steve Flynn was on hand to help with the equipment and setting up the stations, a huge thanks to him. He also spoke to the primary children about the opportunities that are available to them at Bicester Athletics Club.
