The Bicester Area In2Hockey Festival

The Cooper School hosted the Year 5 & 6 In2Hockey Festival on the 7th March. There was a total of 16 teams, a total of 138 children from across both The Cooper and The Bicester Cluster schools. Each school was allocated an area on the hockey pitch to warm up. The team were divided into 4 pools playing each school in their pool in Round 1.

After a quick break the winners from each pool, where put to play against each other in the Cup Final.

The runners up from each pool where put into the plate final.

The 3rd placed school where put into the bowl section and 4th placed team were placed in the shield section.

The winners and runners up from the cup finals was Fritwell and Kings Meadow and these 2 schools qualified for the North Oxfordshire Schools Sports Partnership Final.

The winners of the plate final were Fringford 1

The winners of the bowl final were Chesterton 2

The winners of the shield final were Longfields 1

The Games School Value was self-belief, with many children showing this and growing in confidence as the games progressed especially as some were playing hockey for the first time. A team member from each of the 16 teams was nominated for showing the school games value at the end of the tournament and were awarded a certificate. This was also shown by the Sports Leaders, whom for many of them was taking on umpiring for the first time and it was good to see their self-belief and confidence grow. The umpires were supported by Nick from Bicester Hockey Club and also Lorna from Oxford Hockey Club, who had trained the girls and then supported them on the day. Thanks to both clubs for their support.
