Released: 1st April 2009 at 13:30 PM
On Thursday 26th March all of the Banbury Schools were invited to enter the Hi Five Netball Tournament for year 5 and year 6s, with the winner going through to represent the area for the Youth Games.
Dashwood, Hanwell Fields, Harriers, Bishop Loveday, Cropredy and St Johns arrived in very cold conditions to play their best at North Oxfordshire Academy. Vicky Wallington trained her girls from Banbury School as leaders ready for this event and they did a fantastic job, taking resposibilities for teams and taking their warm up along with keeping up morale.
All the teams got to play each other and got stuck in, their were 61 students involved and they all seemed to be enjoying the experience the cold seemed to not bother them as they played. After all the games were played the scores were announced St Johns Primary Schooll were our winning teams but the scores were pretty close and their had been some fantastic games. So well done to all those involved and good luck to St Johns in the Youth Games.
Here are some comments from the winning team from St Johns.
It was really good fun and I scored 5 goals (Jade Lewis) I got to play against my old school and see some of my old friends (Robert Joseph) I really enjoyed it and liked the Leaders that looked after us (Georgia Wright) It was good to play other schools in a tournament and use the skills we have learnt in Netball Club (Chloe Adeline) I had a great time and can't wait for the next tournament (Niamh Bradley) The tournament was well organised and the Leaders did a brilliant job. The chidlren really enjoyed themselves and all schools showed great sportsmanship throughout (Mrs Tyrrell)
