WARRINER FAMILY HIGH 5 NETBALL & 6-A-SIDE FOOTBALL FESTIVAL

Released: 7th December 2008 at 21:20 PM

The Warriner School hosted its annual High 5 Netball and 6-a-side Football Festival on Friday 21st November. This event is now part of the School Sports Partnership Programme and is designed to enhance participation of Primary school children in high quality Physical education and school sport. The Festival was a great success in that it demonstrated collaboration between The Warriner School, its feeder Primary schools, Cherwell District Council Sport Development unit, local community coaches and a local club in the form of Oxford United FC. Over 150 children took part in the Festival which included practical skills sessions led by Year 11 and 10 Warriner School sports leaders and supported by Nikky Atkins (Bloxham Primary PLT) for Netball and Owen McGovern, Oxford United FC for football. Competitive games were also included in both sports with teams competing in two separate leagues.

As always, Primary school colleagues commented on the excellent work of The Warriner sports leaders; feedback included

"I just wanted to say a big thank you for Friday - all my kids absolutely loved it! The young leaders assigned to us were just brilliant - they motivated and encouraged the kids and really put their hearts into the event" and

"Please pass on my thanks to your pupils who helped out at the netball and football festivals. They were a credit to the school with their enthusiasm for sport and their expertise when organising and leading the K.S.2 pupils. I am sure they will go on to become great sports leaders."

Well done and thank you to all who helped to reinforce the enjoyment that school sport and healthy competition can provide.
