The noise coming from the swimming pool on the afternoon of March 9th was indicative of how much the children enjoyed their swimming gala. All five schools were represented and the gala was run in two sections. West Kidlington, North Kidlington and Edward Feild made up the larger section and St Thomas More and Dr. South’s, the smaller section. The winner of the ‘large schools’ was clearly Edward Feild with West and North coming a very close 2nd and 3rd. The margin between St Thomas More and Dr South’s was negligible and they were neck and neck all the way through until the last race which Dr South’s won.
We were very privileged to have three officials from Kidlington & Gosford Swimming Club in attendance. Rod Fowler, Chair of the Club said a few words of encouragement to the children after the event and invited any of them who were not already members of the Club to consider joining on Saturday mornings. The children each received a certificate on which were written details of how to become a member of the club. Kay Hoffman, secretary and Charlotte Ridewood, coach were also there. Chris Howes, Swimming Instructor at Gosford, helped and her husband, Roger, was our Starter. Students from Gosford Hill did a fantastic job of officiating throughout the afternoon.
