Four primary schools took part in the 2010 Year 3/4 Athletics Festival which was held at Gosford Hill School during National Sports Week. Schools were invited to bring a team of up to eight girls and eight boys, each child taking part in one track event, one field event and one relay.
There were some very good results in the field events, which involved the vortex throw, standing long jump and speed bounce. Similarly, in spite of the warm afternoon, there were equally good closely fought races in the 600M, 200M and 50M. The winners were West Kidlington School with North Kidlington, St Thomas More and Edward Field following closely behind.
Year 9 students from Gosford Hill School followed some training in the morning and then officiated throughout the afternoon. Lloyds Bank is the sponsor of National Sports week and a representative, Neil, from the Kidlington Branch gave out the certificates and stickers at the end of the festival.
