As part of School Sport Week 2010, 60 pupils from Deddington and Langford Village schools enjoyed a day of learning and playing handball.
Andrea, the Partnership handball coach who lead the day, was assisted during the coaching sessions by BGN sports leaders who gave a brief introduction to the sport before letting the children get straight in and have a go.
For those that have not seen Handball before it is a fast paced, pass and move game with the objective being to throw the ball into the goal past the keeper.
After the coaching sessions, the schools were split into teams of ten and took part in a closely contested festival. It was great to see how quickly those that had not played before picked it up and improved throughout the day. The aim of the day was to learn a new game and improve skills and team working, an aim that was achieved by all.
The final festival saw Deddington 1 pipping Deddington 3 and Langford 2 to the top spot by 2 points. Thanks to the Teachers, Andrea and Leaders from BGN.
