Partnership Overview

Established in 2004, North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership is a non-profit making organisation that now works in partnership with 60 schools from across North Oxfordshire.  We have well established links with Youth Sport Trust, Cherwell District Council Recreation & Health, Active Oxfordshire, National Governing Bodies of Sport and numerous community sports clubs and leisure providers from across the Cherwell district.

Our overriding aim is to engage more 4 to 19 year olds in high quality Physical Education, School and Community Sport, thereby promoting excellence and lifelong participation in health promoting activity.

We support schools and individual teachers to develop and deliver high quality PE and school sport through networking opportunities, professional development sessions and the deployment of a team of highly motivated specialist Primary PE Mentors & School Sport Coordinators to support both curricular and extra-curricular provision. Our coordination, organisation, and delivery of a range of school sports competitions, festivals and interventions each year - many of which are under the School Games banner, as well as the mentoring and deployment young leaders as coaches and officials, helps to forge effective pathways for young people into community sport.

In 2020 we became an FA Girls’ Football School Partnership – supported by Barclay’s, allowing us to build on our existing structure of schools to help develop and grow the girls’ game through increased participation opportunities, workforce development and strengthening links in to the community.
