School Sport Organising Committees & Crews

School Sport Organising Committees and Crews are a key workforce for the establishment, development and sustainability of Intra-School Competition (School Games Level 1).

School Sport Organising Committees (Secondary Schools) and Crews (Primary Schools) are groups of young people who have joined together to lead the planning and delivery of School sport clubs and intra-school competition programmes in their own School. They are in a position to influence and shape the school sport offer for their peers through deciding on the types of competitions to be held, their structure and where and when they take place, helping to make the School Games more attractive and accessible for all young people.

Benefits of a School Sport Organising Committee/Crew

~ Creating a culture in schools where young people are empowered to shape and influence their school sport offer.

~ Helping to equip young people for life and work, encouraging them to take responsibility and instilling the meaning of commitment. Helping them to develop the ability to overcome challenges and to make decisions both as an individual and as part of a team.

~ Building capacity within the school to help deliver a wider range of activities for a more diverse group of young people.
