Venue: The Cooper School, Astro

Age Groups: Under 9 (Year 3 & 4) Mixed          

Teams: Min. team of 5 / Max. squad of 10 (see ratio requirement below)

Event Purpose/Aim: To give the children the chance to play football for a team, playing in a competition in a safe and enjoyable environment.

 

Qualification:

This is an open entry event.

Schools are invited to enter 2 teams.

Rules:

• Teams should consist of 5 players with a maximum of 10 players in the squad.
• There should be a minimum of 2 boys and 2 girls playing in each game at all times.
• Matches will be played in general conformity with the Youth Football Guidance as issued by the Football Association. In particular, please note the following:
  • Every player must wear shin guards.
  • Rolling substitutions are allowed at any point during the match with the referee’s discretion.
  • All players should receive an equal amount of game time where possible. A good practice recommendation is at least 50%.
  • Goal kicks should be taken from anywhere inside the penalty area.
  • At a goal kick, opponents must retreat to their own half until the ball is in play. The defending team does not have to wait for the opposition to retreat and has the option to restart the game before should they choose to. The ball is in play when it is kicked directly out of the penalty area.
  • Goal keepers are allowed to kick the ball from their hands
  • Goal keepers should not take longer than 6 seconds to release the ball
  • The back pass rule applies
  • Opposing players should be at least 5 yards away from the ball at free kicks, goal kicks and corner kicks.
  • Overhead throw ins or underarm roll ins are allowed

Additional Information:

• Please provide bibs of an alternative colour to your kit, to be worn should clash of colours occur.
• Please provide your own ‘practice’ ball.
• Games will be played on astro. Trainers/suitable astro footwear should be worn.
• Every player must wear shin guards.
• Games will be refereed by young sports leaders.

• School staff are responsible for the behavior, welfare and safety of their own children and should offer appropriate first aid provision.
• Photographs may be taken at this event, but will be wide angle and wouldn’t be taken from behind to avoid facial identification. Please notify the Event Organiser of any students who are not permitted to have photographs taken.
