This event is for girls, SEND & BAME  who do not normally play football for a club in or outside of school.

The Cooper School Mini-Football Festival

 

Date:  31 March 2022                    Time:  9.30 – 12.00

Venue: The Cooper School, Astro

Age Groups: Year 1 & 2 Girls Only        

Teams: Approximately 10 children per group

Event Purpose/Aim: To give the children the chance to play football, learning new skills in a fun relaxed environment.

 

Qualification:

There is no further qualification for this event.

Schools are invited to enter 2 teams of 10, initially.

Programme:

• Sports leaders will be allocated per group of 10 and have planned to do 3 skill focused games/skills
• After the skills session there will be a break, snack time and drinks.
• There will be then be 5 a-side games against other teams on a rotation basis, depending on time and number teams.
• Matches will be played in general conformity with the Youth Football Guidance as issued by the Football Association.
• There will be no official scoring and there will be no winners or placed teams, the focus is gaining confidence, skills and enjoyment.
• Please wear trainers, no studded football boots as games will take place on the astro
• Rolling substitutions are allowed at any point during the match with the referee’s discretion.
• Schools can play with Goal Keepers or ‘Rush’ goalie. http://academickids.com/encyclopedia/index.php/Rush_goalie
• Goal kicks should be taken from anywhere inside the penalty area.
• At a goal kick, opponents must retreat to their own half until the ball is in play. The defending team does not have to wait for the opposition to retreat and has the option to restart the game before should they choose to. The ball is in play when it is kicked directly out of the penalty area.
• Goal keepers are allowed to kick the ball from their hands
• Goal keepers should not take longer than 6 seconds to release the ball
• The back pass rule applies
• Opposing players should be at least 5 yards away from the ball at free kicks, goal kicks and corner kicks.
• Overhead throw ins or underarm roll ins are allowed

• Please provide bibs of an alternative colour to your kit, to be worn should clash of colours occur.
• Please bring a bag of footballs for training, please name the balls
• Games will be refereed by young sports leaders.

• School staff are responsible for the behavior, welfare and safety of their own children and should offer appropriate first aid provision.
