The Cooper School Tag-Rugby Festival

 

Date:  20 October 2022                 Time:  9.30 – 12.00

Venue: The Cooper School, backfield

Age Groups: Year 3/4      

Teams: Approximately 10 children per group

Event Purpose/Aim: To give the children the chance to play tag-rugby, learning new skills in a fun relaxed environment.

 

Qualification:

There is no further qualification for this event.

Schools are invited to enter 2 teams of 10, initially.

Programme:

• Sports leaders will be allocated per group of 10 and have planned to do 3 skill focused games/skills
• After the skills session there will be a break, snack time and drinks.
• There will be then be 7 a-side games against other teams on a rotation basis, depending on time and number teams. 3 girls and 3 boys must be on the pitch, the 7 player can be either boy or girl.
• There will be no official scoring and there will be no winners or placed teams, the focus is gaining confidence, skills and enjoyment.
• Trainers or studded football boots can be worn as games will take place on the back field.
• Rolling substitutions are allowed at any point during the match with the referee’s discretion.

• Please provide bibs of an alternative colour to your kit, to be worn should clash of colours occur.
• Please bring a bag of rugby balls for training, please name the balls
• Games will be refereed by young sports leaders.

• School staff are responsible for the behavior, welfare and safety of their own children and should offer appropriate first aid provision.
