Primary Athletics

The Bicester Cluster

Sportshall Athletics

 

Date: Thursday 1st  February 2024                      Time:  9.15 arrival (9.30 start) – 12.30

Venue: The Bicester School (Bicester Leisure Centre sports hall)

Age Groups: Under 11 (Year 5 & 6) Boys & Girls       

Teams: Min. Team of 9 boys/9 girls / Max. squad of 15 boys/15 girls

Event intent: To promote success and achievement and to create positive experiences.

 

 

The Sportshall Primary Programme provides an exciting and highly popular introduction to athletics competition, with the emphasis on team participation and having fun. To support individual development in sport.

 

School Games Value: Teamwork

 

Qualification:

This is an open entry event; schools are encouraged to enter teams following Intra-School (Level 1) competition.

Schools are invited to enter 1  team, initially.

Rules:

o        Each team should consist of a minimum of 9 girls and 9 boys, with a maximum of 15 girls and 15 boys being permitted.

o        Each athlete may compete in a maximum of 2 track and 2 field events from the follow:

1+1 Lap Relay

2 Athletes

2+2 Lap Relay

2 Athletes

6 Lap Paarlauf

2 Athletes

Obstacle Relay

4 Athletes

Over/Under Relay*

4 Athletes

4 x 1 Lap Relay

4 Athletes 

Chest Push

3 Athletes

Speed Bounce

3 Athletes

Standing Long Jump

3 Athletes

Standing Triple Jump

3 Athletes

Vertical Jump

3 Athletes

 

*This event may be replaced with 4 x 1 Lap Hurdles Relay at your cluster competition

o        Full details of the events can be found in the Sportshall Primary Rules & Guidance Notes.

o        Athletes will not be permitted to compete in bare feet or unsuitable footwear.

o        Each team should submit a completed declaration sheet prior to the competition beginning, found attached.

 

Additional Information:

o        School staff are responsible for the behaviour, safety and well-being of their own students and should offer appropriate first aid provision, which includes own ice packs.

o        Photographs may be taken for publicity purposes by North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership and The Bicester School; they may appear on our website, in social media or as media releases to local press. Please notify the Event Organiser of any students who are not permitted to have photographs taken.

o        No spectators

 

Progression:

The winning team from each cluster competition will qualify for the School Sport Partnership Final.

 

Please note: The number of teams that qualify from each ‘cluster’ event will depend on the number of clusters involved. i.e. 1 cluster = top team
