Rules:
7 players on pitch at one time, consisting of a minimum of 3 boys and 3 girls.
All players must wear a tag belt, which has two ribbons (tags) attached to it with Velcro. (Schools to provide their own tag belts).
Player’s tops must be tucked into bottoms, with tag belts visible.
ALL players must be given 50% of the game time in-line with the England Rugby Half Game regulation.
Only the ball carrier can be tagged. A tag is simply the removal by a defender of one of the two ribbons. Once tagged the player in possession of the ball must stop and pass the ball to a teammate within three steps. However, the game is continuous and the tagged player may pass without stopping.
The defending player who makes the tag must hold the tag above their head, and along with the rest of their team, must stand back on their own side allowing the attacker to pass the ball. When the pass has been made the defender must give the tag back to the tackled player before rejoining the game.
No player can take any further part in the game without both tags properly in place on the belt.
The object of the game is to score a try by placing the ball with downward pressure on or behind the opponents “goal line”. The scorer must be on their feet – no diving!
Near the goal line, players may only take one step to score after being tagged.
There will be no scrum, no kicking and no line-out; the opposition re-plays the ball on the pitch with a free pass.
A free pass is used to start the game and to restart after an infringement has occurred. Infringements include knock on, forward pass or off side. At a free pass the opposing team must be 7 meters back.
The ball carrier is not permitted to deliberately fend or hand off, block their tags with the ball or their hands, jump or spin around to avoid being tagged.
After 6 ‘tags’ the ball will be turned over.
Absolutely no contact is permitted.
