New Faces

As we embark on a new academic year, we’re delighted to welcome Jack Burke [email protected] from The Bicester School and David Brassett [email protected] from Sibford School to our talented team of School Sport Coordinators.  Matthew Bunston [email protected] (pictured) also joins NOSSP on a temporary basis as  School Games Organiser until Emma Jackson’s return from maturity leave in January.

School Games Mark 2018

Shortly before the summer holidays schools across the partnership were busy completing and submitting their School Games Mark 2018 applications and it turned out to be a record breaking year.  Following validation 44 schools achieved the award, including 3 secondary schools and 41/45 of our primary partners.  An incredible 60% of schools achieved the Gold standard!

Youth Sport Trust Quality Mark

At meetings this week School Sport Coordinators will be encouraging and supporting primary colleagues to carry out an audit of their PE provision and to identify priorities for their development plan, using the valuable and easy-to-use Youth Sport Trust online self-review tool.

Ready, Set, Ride

Ready, Set, Ride

We are looking forward and very excited to be taking part in this year’s HSBC UK British Cycling Ready Set Ride programme.  This is an EYFS/KS1 programme designed to enable every child to discover the joys of cycling and use it to explore their world through active travel, recreation or sport.  This simple learn to ride course also helps connect schools and families, helping children achieve their recommended CMO guidance of 60 minutes of daily physical activity.

Community Projects

Community Projects

As in previous years we will be working closely with community partners this year to support the development and delivery of child focused, health promoting, sport and physical activity projects.  For example we sit on the steering group for the new Families Active and Sporty Together (FAST) programme aimed at supporting families from some of our more deprived areas to take part in physical activity; we’re also a key partner in the ‘Banburyshire’ Tennis Project which aims to grow tennis across North Oxfordshire.

In addition we will bring you news of opportunities to engage in ambitious national projects such as the recently launched Cricket World Cup Schools programme which hopes to bring the fun and excitement of next year’s World Cup into the classroom and the playground.

All change! Exciting Job Opportunity.

After more than 14 years of managing and leading North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership, Development Manager Carl Hamilton has decided that now is the right time to step down and hand over the reins to a successor.

Consequently Blessed George Napier School are looking to appoint a dynamic, motivated, inspirational PE and school sport specialist who can successfully manage, lead and support the on-going development of PE, physical activity, school sport and health within the highly regarded North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership of 54 schools.

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 26th September 2018.
