Banbury Ac. Inclusion Sportshall Athletic

116 Y5/6 children came to Banbury Academy on Thursday 18th January to take part in an Inclusion Sportshall Athletics Festival.  The children from: Dashwood, The Grange, Hanwell Fields, Hillview, St. Leonard’s, St. Mary’s and Queensway were divided up into reds and blues and made their way around a circuit of 7 activities - continuous relay, standing long jump, balance bar, seated chest push, javelin, vertical jump and speed bounce. Although the focus of the festival was fun and engagement there was a competitive element with the top 3 boys scores being added to the top 3 girls scores at each station.  Most schools went home with at least one winning certificate!  The Spirit of the Games focus was ‘PASSION’ and there was definitely lots of this shown throughout the morning.  2 children in each team were awarded special Passion Certificates at the end of the morning.

The stations were run by a team of 29 Year 8 students who did an amazing job of explaining, demonstrating, encouraging, recording etc. Well done to – Archie, Max, Hashaam, Jake, William, Connor, Aidan, Jamie, Calum, Toby, Muhammad, Jack Bowman, Samuel, Billy, Toby, Rebecca, Georgia, Lucie, Louisa, Martha, Imogen, Maisey, Abbie, Caitlin, Hanna, Lydia, Victoria, Kira, Eleanor, Natalie.

“Pace was great.  Really well organised.”
