Developing ABC at Banbury Academy

Children from across the Banbury Academy cluster of primary schools had a very busy day on Thursday 22nd March at the Year 2 Multi-Skills Festival Day.  354 children took part in morning and afternoon sessions designed to develop agility, balance and coordination which were planned and delivered by a team of 48 Year 7 Young Sports Leaders.  The children rotated around circuits of activities including relay races, fruit salad, cat and mouse, octopus tag, penalty shoot-out, skipping, circus skills, target throwing, archery, hunt and grab and mini-golf!

The children showed plenty of self-belief as they tried out new activities and lots of them went home with School Games Self-Belief certificates.

“The children enjoyed all the games.  It all ran very smoothly.  The leaders were excellent and looked like they really enjoyed themselves.”  (PE Coordinator)

“The leaders were great, they really looked after the children and made sure they were all included.” (Class Teacher)

“The children have loved the range of activities, especially the things they haven’t tried before like the archery and mini golf.” (Class teacher)
