Y3/4 Mini Red Festival

Year 3/4 children from the Banbury Area competed at the Mini Red Tennis Festival on Thursday 26th April.  The 43 children from Harriers, St. John’s, Hillview, Hanwell Fields and The Grange all played tie break style matches against equivalent seeds after practising and developing their skills in activities run by 17 Year 10 leaders.

Each child played 4 matches and was awarded 3 points for a win and 1 for a loss.  The eventual winners were Hanwell Fields who collectively got an impressive 76 points! They were followed by The Grange who got 68 points, St. John’s and Hillview tied in third place with 66 points and Harriers came fifth with 46 points. Good luck to Hanwell Fields and The Grange who go on to play at the Partnership Finals on 24th May at Banbury Tennis Club.

Lots of the children made fantastic progress throughout the morning and showed respect for each other and the leaders throughout.  Determination, the focus School Games Value, was in abundance as the children battled it out for each point.  Well done to the children who received special determination awards at the end of the festival.
