Year 3 & 4 mini- football festival at The Cooper School
On the 10 October the Bicester Area primary schools attended the Year 3 and 4 mini football festival. There were a total of 25 teams with about 250 children attending. There were 4 pools on 5 pitches with teams playing each other in a round robin format. Matches lasted 8 minutes and were expertly refereed by The Cooper School sports leaders from Yr 7-9.
After all teams had played each other in their pool, scores were added together to get winners and runners’ up, who then played semi –finals and then finals. The results were very close with 2 points separating the top 2 teams in Pool A & B and 3 to 4 points separating results in Pool C & D.
The final placing for Pool A/B was:
1st - Burepark,
2nd place – Kings Meadow,
3rd – Longfields,
4th – Fritwell. These 4 teams all qualify for the next round.
The final placing for Pool C/D was:
1st – Launton,
2nd - Chesterton
3rd Heyford and Brookside
The school games value was teamwork and each school was asked to select a pupil from each team to receive a certificate at the end of the festival. The sports leaders did exceptionally well in managing the matches, doing the score sheets and calling out the next round of games. They also received a complimentary email from a parent saying how well they had done, a huge success and a very proud moment for the students.
