On Thursday 4th July in glorious sunshine, forty-two Year 4 and Year 6 children from Bishop Loveday and Cropredy primary schools took part in the Inclusion Summer Sports Festival at Blessed George Napier. The event was targeted at children who had not previously participated in a festival or competition this academic year with a focus of engagement and having fun rather than winning.
Upon arrival four teams from Bishop Loveday and four teams from Bishop Loveday were assigned a BGN student leader as their team manager and began by leading a warm up for their team. Thereafter, teams played against different opposition in four different games including traditional rounders, scatterball, diamond and continuous cricket. The activities were expertly delivered by student leaders from BGN who offered encouragement and guidance throughout.
During the event, the Spirit of the Games value of Team work was a key focus area. One child from each team was selected and presented with a special certificate in recognition of their positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the festival.
There is no doubt all the children enjoyed the various challenges of each game and had a positive experience from the festival.
