Term 2 Wykham Park Academy

This term WPA hosted The Banbury Area U11 High 5 Netball Tournament and a This Girl Can! event.  Amidst a very wet few weeks, we were very lucky to have a dry (ish!) morning for the Netball. 9 teams took part from across Banbury (Cropredy, Hanwell, Bishop Loveday, Queensway, The Grange, William Morris, St. Joseph's, St. John's and Hillview), all playing each other in a round robin tournament.  Quick fire matches really tested their netball knowledge and skills as they had to rotate positions in between each one. Congratulations to the winning team St. Joseph's and to The Grange who came 2nd, St. John's 3rd and Cropredy 4th.  All these teams will go to the partnership finals wb 16th March….good luck!  The focus School Games value for the event was RESPECT.  Everyone did a great job of showing lots of respect to each other and it was lovely to see all the children shaking hands and congratulating each other at the end of every match.  Well done to all the children who received special respect awards during the presentations.

40 Y5/6 girls from the Wykham Park cluster showed stacks of ‘girl power’ at the This Girl Can! Festival.  They enjoyed challenging themselves and taking part in new activities, focusing on the power of a positive mind throughout.  They took part in cup stacking challenges, archery, mini trampoline rock, paper, scissors and learnt Christmassy dances.  Everyone showed lots of self-belief and had a great morning.  Well done girls!

Thank you to the Wykham Park Young Sports Leaders who have helped to deliver these events.  They have been awesome!
