The Cooper Cluster Term 2 Festivals

Girls Only Festival

The Cooper School hosted another Girls Only Festival on Thursday 5 December for Year 3 & 4, with about 62 girls attending the festival. The schools that attended were Glory Farm, Fringford, Launton, Langford and Burepark. The activities that were on offer: trampolining, benchball, table tennis, archery and volleyball. The sports leaders warm up the schools when they arrived, immediately taking responsibility for their school. Each activity lasted about 15 minutes and worked on a rotation basis. The trampoline session was run very efficiently by the sports leaders, giving the children excellent coaching and catering for their individual needs.  Each school was allocated a group of sports leaders, who led them through the activities, explaining how to play the game or coaching them. The gym housed the trampolining and the benchball and all the other activities took place in the sports hall. To make the volleyball easier balloons were used and the children were allowed a maximum of 3 hits before it had to be passed over the net. Some groups did introduce a soft ball, but it didn’t have the ‘floatability’ like to balloon, so not as much game play.

The Schools Games Value was teamwork and each school nominated two pupils who had demonstrated the value during the morning. The sports leaders also nominated children who had demonstrated the school games value. It is great to see when a child gets nominated by their teacher as well as the sports leaders.
