BGN Cluster Term 5 and 6 Report

Primary school competitions and festivals have again graced Blessed George Napier playing fields during the summer term.  445 children and forty teams from six schools including Bishop Loveday, Longford Park, Orchard Fields, St. John’s, St. Joseph’s, and William Morris have taken part.  Sixty-four BGN student leaders in Year 7, 8 and 9 and twenty-one Year 6 Primary Leaders have supported Mr Mawn in the delivery of these events which included

3/4 Quadkids Athletics, Year 5/6 Dynamo Cricket, Year 1/2 All Star Cricket, Year 6 Transition Leader training and Year 3/4 Multi-skills.  

 

Quadkids Athletics

The Quadkids Athletics competition returned after a three-year absence. 

All athletes completed a quadrathlon, competing in four events: the sprint over 50 metres, the run over 400 metres, the standing long jump, and the vortex howler throw

115 children and 10 teams from three schools, Bishop Loveday, St. John’s, and St. Joseph’s took part.

Year 5/6 Dynamo Cricket held at Banbury Cricket Club

93 children and 10 teams from four schools including Bishop Loveday, Orchard Fields, William Morris, and St. John’s took part in the Year 5/6 Dynamo Cricket Competitions at Banbury Cricket Club.

Year 6 transition and Year 3/4 Multi-skills

Twelve Year 7 BGN student leaders and twenty-one Year 6 student leaders from Bishop Loveday, St. John’s, and St. Joseph’s came together to do team building activities and plan for the Year 3/4 Multi-skills festival.  The aim was to build confidence and ease worries about transition for identified Year 6 students.

 

114 Year 3/4 children from five schools including -Bishop Loveday, St. John’s, St. Joseph’s, Longford Park and William Morris took part in a carousel of activities delivered by Year 7 BGN and Year 6 transition leaders.  It was particularly pleasing to see all student leaders deliver their activities with enthusiasm and their confidence developing as the festival progressed.

Year 1 and 2 All Stars Cricket

123 Year 1/2 children from four schools; -Bishop Loveday, Longford Park, Orchard Fields, and St. John’s took part in a range of batting, bowling, and fielding activities delivered by Year 7 and 8 BGN student leaders.   These fun and engaging activities are taken from the All-Star Cricket Programme.
