Cooper Family Year 1 Multi-Skills Festival

Following on from the highly successful Cooper Family Multi-Skills Festivals, before Easter, for children in Years 2 and 3, today it was the turn of the Year 1 children, with nearly one hundred and forty children from Launton, Longfields, Finmere, Fringford and Glory Farm Primary Schools taking part.

The event was run by Year 7 and 8 students from The Cooper School. The young leaders expertly ran warm up activities for the younger children, followed by a circuit of activities to develop their agility, balance and coordination. The children were shown and had the opportunity to practise at each station before competing to accumulate a team score.

During the event, the Spirit of the Games value of self-belief was a key focus area. A child from each team was selected and presented with a special certificate in recognition of the courage and confidence they had shown and developed during the festival.

This inclusive event, part of the North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership competition programme, was very successful and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

“A very well run event. The children spent maximum time on the activities. Thank you for your help in accommodating all of our children including those with special needs”. (Teacher Longfields).

“A very enjoyable morning with plenty of encouragement from the young leaders, particularly Hayden and Kesha. We were also greeted by Caitlin who was polite, confident and showed us where to go”. (Teacher Glory Farm)

“Thank you, that was brilliant!” (Year 1 child Glory Farm)

“The students running the activities did really well and made us feel welcome. The event was well organised”. (Teaching Assistant Finmere)

“Brilliant!” (Teacher Fringford)

“A very successful Year 1 Multi-Skills event. All the children thoroughly enjoyed it. Some of the leaders were particularly good”. (Teacher Launton)
