Banbury Academy rounders

Banbury Academy Cluster schools were in full force as they all attended the Y3/4 Rounders festival on Thursday 29th June.  There were 18 teams in total, playing in 3 different competitions according to ability.

The rules were adapted to maximise engagement and enjoyment……using tennis rackets and tennis balls meant that there was a lot of big hits and plenty of action for the fielders!  The games were very exciting and very competitive, particularly in the Cup competition.  After 2 pools of round robins and then play offs between them, the eventual winners of the Cup competition were The Grange, with Harriers finishing in 2nd place and St. Leonard’s and Hillview tying in 3rd place.  The Plate competition was won by Hanwell Fields, with Queensway finishing in 2nd place and The Grange and Hillview tying in 3rd.   Queensway won the shield competition closely followed by Hanwell Fields and then The Grange.  Well done to all the winning teams!

Teamwork was the focus ‘Spirit of The Games’ value with a child from each team receiving a special teamwork certificate.  Well done to all these children.

Thank you to the Year 8 Banbury Academy Young Leaders who did a great job of umpiring in the midst of a busy exam week!
