Animal Orienteering!

Last Friday morning, Longfields Primary School hosted a Y3 orienteering festival, for 45 of their own Year 3 children AND 74 Year 3 children from Glory Farm Primary School!

Mr Kellam from Longfields, had designed and set up an animal orienteering adventure all around the grounds of the school. The children were spilt up in to groups of 3 and were all given a map marked with 25 locations to find! Once they had used the map to locate an orienteering flag, they found a photo of an animal attached and had to write this animal next to the right location on their answer sheet!

The chiildren had great fun developing their map reading skills (learning how to orientate it correctly), team work communication skills and showed great determination and perseverance values to keep going when they didn't get things quite right!

Staff and pupils from both schools throughly enjoyed the morning, learnt new skills and enjoyed being together. Huge thanks to Mr Kellam and his Longfields team for hosting such a well organised and successful event.
