Success at National Awards Ceremony

North Oxfordshire School Sport Partnership were winners of the Youth Sport Trust’s recognition award for The Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week Award which went to the School Sport Partnership that showed the greatest innovation and the highest engagement of Schools and Young People.

The Partnership were presented the award by Paralympic wheelchair basketball player Ade Adepitan and Gordon Lott, Lloyds TSB Head of London 2012 Partnership, who sponsored the award.

National School Sport Week was launched in February 2008 by the Prime Minister and Dame Kelly Holmes, and will be an annual event leading up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.  The week is integral to the delivery of the Government's PE and Sport Strategy for Young People and contributing towards the target of offering young people five hours of high quality PE and sport every week by 2012.

All 45 Primary, 3 Special and 7 Secondary schools from North Oxfordshire signed up to be part of the week in June and the partnership engaged thousands of young people in sport and physical activity, either through participation or leadership.  Many of the events that happened during the week were delivered in association with local sports clubs and coaches.

Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week 2010 will run from 28 June to 2 July and the partnership is already beginning to plan new opportunities and celebrations for the week.
