The final of the Gifted and Talented Sporthall Competition took place yesterday at Bicester Community College. The event was the climax to the sportshall athletics programme that has been taking place during January, February and March. The schools that qualified by winning their family competitions were St’ Thomas More, Langford Village, Bishop Loveday and Kings Meadow.
BCC sports leaders organised the competition which started with the track events for boys and girls. Bishop Loveday took an early lead winning 5 out of the 12 running events with Langford and St’ Thomas More close behind. Moving to the field events schools proved the coaching was paying off with many notable performances included a clean sweep for St’Thomas More in the girls standing long jump and Kings Meadows taking the top 2 spots in the seated throw. The Relay’s proved decisive for the final results with St’ Thomas More narrowly pipping Bishop Loveday 44 points to 49.These 2 schools will go on to representing North Oxfordshire at the Oxfordshire Youth Games on the 27 June at Iffley Road. Good Luck!
I would like to thanks BCC for hosting the event and their sports leaders for their enthusiasm which made it hugely enjoyable and competitive.
