On Friday 2 July the School Sport Partnership organised a Celebration of Sport Day as part of our Lloyds TSB Nataional School Sport Week activities. Around 200 young people from Primary and Secondary Schools attended the event at the Partnership hubsite, Blessed George Napier Sports College.
Students had the opportunity to participate in taster sessions delivered by local sports clubs and groups in Olympic sports such as Basketball, Trampolining and Table Tennis as well as having a go at other less traditional sports such as Ultimate Frisbee, Gaelic Football and Rock-It Ball.
Students, Teachers, Leaders and Coaches also got involved in 10 minutes of Physical Activity at 12:20, lead by Dance Leaders from BGN. The mass participation event happened in schools and colleges across the country at the same time as a mark to recognise the London 2012 Olympics.
Following the Olympic theme, the day involved Opening and Closing Ceremonies in which dance and skipping groups from BGN and Banbury Schools performed.
