Year 3/4 Rounders festival at BGN

The annual Year 3 and 4 Rounders Festival for the BGN Family of Primary Schools took place in glorious sunshine on Thursday 30th June.  Two hundred and thirty children and twenty-three teams from five Primary Schools including Hardwick, St. Joseph’s, St. John’s, William Morris and Cropredy took part. Twenty-one BGN student sports leaders took responsibility for umpiring and scoring the matches across six pitches.

Teams were divided into six groups and played one another in a round-robin format to determine the winner of each pool.  There was a three way tie in Pool A with Hardwick A, St. John’s B and Cropredy A recording two wins and a defeat each.  St. John’s A won all their games to win Pool B.  Both St. Joseph’s B and St. John’s C recorded a win and two draws a piece to come joint winners in Pool C.  Hardwick D and Cropredy D remained undefeated to come first in Pool D.  Cropredy E topped Pool E and St. Joseph’s C won all their matches to win Pool F

During the event, the Spirit of the Games value of Team work was a key focus area. A player from each team was selected and presented with a special certificate in recognition of their positive attitude and enthusiasm throughout the festival.

Congratulations to all players, student sport leaders and teachers who all contributed to an enjoyable afternoon of rounders.

“Even with a surprise extra school the event ran very smoothly and was enjoyed by all.  Thank you for letting us bring three classes.” PE Coordinator (St. John’s)
