Sports Leadership Awards at BGN

Twelve Year 11 Blessed George Napier Catholic students have received their Level 2 Award in Sports leadership certificates during assembly this term.  The student Sport leaders undertook this course during their PE lessons in Year 10. For the award students have developed their organisational, motivational and communicational skills, whilst also focusing on positive role models in sport and how to use leadership skills in a variety of settings.  As part of the course the students also had to demonstrate at least 10 hours of leadership within school and the local community.   To achieve this they taught PE lessons at St. John’s and the Grange Primary Schools, organised intra-house football and inter-school rounders competitions and supported various Primary School festivals and events held at Blessed George Napier Catholic School.

“I have really enjoyed doing my Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership.  Throughout the course I have lead different sporting activities and taught Primary PE lessons, organised a primary rounders tournament and supported Sporthall Athletics events.”    Ellie (Year 11)

“I have thoroughly enjoyed doing sports leadership during our games lessons.  It was really fun to help and teach younger children.  My communication skills have developed throughout the course.  I am much more confident and able to explain and give instructions clearly to a group of children.” Saskia (Year 11)

“I have developed many skills during my Sport leadership course including communication, organisational, motivational and teamwork skills.  I have also learnt how to adapt games when delivering activities.” Oliver (Year 11)

“My communication skills has improved doing sports leadership and I would recommend this course to anyone that wants to make a difference to other peoples’ lives and stay active while doing so.” Tom  (Year 11)
